Family Nursing Practitioners’ roles that have made them increasingly favored as primary care sources include; providing preventive and general maintenance, providing general and specialized checkups, and order lab tests. Lastly, nursing practitioners can also prescribe medication (Estes et al., 2019). A Family nurse practitioner represents an advanced nurse practitioner who has the skill and authority to deal with all aspects of a patient including, patient consultation, diagnosis, and treatment. Family Nursing Practitioner has been reported by the U.S News & World Report as one of the most prominent careers and jobs due to the following reasons; Family nursing practitioners receive one of the most competitive salary packages in the country. As reported, the lowest ranking family NP receives a salary above $90000 (Horner, 2017). Secondly, it has also been established that Family Nursing Practice is one of the least stressful job categories in the country, explaining why the career ranks so high. Lastly, when an individual becomes a Practicing Nurse, they are highly guaranteed to get employed as the career has the least unemployment rate.

As discussed earlier, a family nurse practitioner or FNP represents a highly informed and educated practicing nurse who has the authority to provide all primary care and specialty that a patient may require. They are advanced practice registered nurses who work under the supervision of physicians; however, they are highly autonomous. They also provide all the medical services that doctors offer. To become a Family Nursing Practitioner, an individual must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and pass the NCLEX-RN that allows them to become a Registered Nurse (Fuller, 2020). Then they are also required to earn a Master’s Degree in Nursing to receive an FNP license. It is also mandatory that one should have 1-2 years of experience as a registered nursing practitioner. They should also possess specialized knowledge of using advanced medical equipment such as cardiac monitoring devices and nebulizers.
